End of Year Statement - Year 2

19 Jun 19 End of Year Statement - Year 2

We are celebrating having just completed our 2nd full year of delivering the Somerset Phoenix Project, a partnership initiative delivered by Barnardo’s and SARSAS commissioned by Public Health at Somerset County Council with additional support from Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group and NHS England.

Last year we celebrated having a project that had passed through a set up period, this year we can celebrate a service that feels like a consolidated part of the landscape in Somerset. We have to date worked intensively with 63 children and young people, offering them counselling, creative therapy and specialist support.

All of the children and young people reported that the support had positive outcomes for them. It had made them more resilient and knowledgeable and able to continue their journey of recovery.

We also supported 121 professionals and parent/carers through consultation, supervision and parental work. We have directly supported 25 parent/carers via programmes we offer and we have given them the skills to support their child on their road to recovery. Finally we have supported and trained 479 professionals to raise their confidence and skills to support children and families affected by Childhood Sexual Abuse.

We look forward to supporting more children and young people and families into our third year.
