World Mental Health Day - ‘Being Heard’

09 Oct 26 World Mental Health Day - ‘Being Heard’

Being heard can be life-changing, especially for survivors of child sexual abuse (CSA). Many survivors carry their experiences in silence, often feeling isolated, misunderstood, or unable to find the words to explain what they have been through. Attending a medical appointment can be particularly daunting, and it can be difficult to communicate concerns, symptoms, or past experiences that may be affecting physical or emotional wellbeing.

Creating safe spaces where people are listened to without judgment can help reduce isolation and support healing. This World Mental Health Day, remember that support starts with being heard. A compassionate conversation, a listening ear, and being given the opportunity to express your needs can make a lasting difference.

For survivors taking the brave step of attending a healthcare appointment and seeking support, the tools below may help ensure their voice is heard when finding the words feels difficult.
