The Somerset Phoenix Team offer support specifically for parent/carers whose children are survivors of any type of sexual abuse. There is lots on offer to support you with the issues affecting you, your child and the rest of the family.
We understand that parents/carers may have lots of questions following a disclosure of sexual abuse. At Phoenix we know that some parent/carers only want/aren't ready to manage all of the issues that come with this disclosure. Our adult coordinator can get in touch and offer an hours appointment to talk about specific issues/worries that you are facing. Parent/carer’s will be listened too and supported and may wish to talk through such subjects as, how to support their child, what does it mean for our family, parenting a traumatised child, looking after siblings etc. The drop in, is an, as and when needed service and is not sessional counselling. You are welcome to use this service for a maximum of 4 spaced out slots. If you find that you need further support we may suggest one of our other services, of course this is your choice if you would like further help. The slots will be done virtually either by telephone or using virtual software (we will help you get set up for this if needed).

We offer up to 16 sessions of individual counselling, term time only, for those parent/carer’s that are ready for a therapeutic journey. The sessions are a safe place to explore the complexities and emotional feelings associated with your child's abuse. We go at your pace and are also happy to explore your past and present experiences that feed into where you are at the moment. The sessions run in blocks of 8 weeks with a review to see if further counselling is needed.

The email service offers a safe supportive space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings regarding the impact of trauma on you and your family.
The anonymous email works by scrambling the IP address of the sender so we are unable to trace where it came from. You can share your thoughts/worries and issues either anonymously or if you want to identify yourself you can. We are a small team and will endeavour to respond to your email within 3 working phoenix days (we open Mon-Wed).The email is responded to by experienced professionals.

If your situation is an emergency or an escalating emergency please contact the relevant statutory services in your area such as social care and/or the police.
Therapeutic parent/carer home support is a series of up to 6 sessions with a trained specialist support worker. The support worker will work alongside you at your pace virtually. It helps you understand how your child or young person’s brain is working, why they react and behave in a way that is different from their peers who aren't survivors of abuse, the ripples and impact of the abuse on them, you and your family, it can look at the relationship your child or young person had or still wants with the abuser, the grooming process, and ways to support your child and you going forward.
